Post AHEB Writer's Block

Just dropping by to say that I'm supposed to write a couple of entries these past 2 days but failed to do so because I could hardly muster the fortitude and emotional strength after watching Ang Huling El Bimbo. The Full House Theater Company and Resorts World Manila through ABS-CBN had this streaming on YouTube for 48 hours, May 8-9.

Really grateful that they did so as I wasn't able to watch AHEB live because of work sched. I was still staying in Rizal during those days. Staying late and travel back home with early shift the following day wasn't just ideal.

Here's to hoping that I could write again, about anything. Doesn't have to do with AHEB, though I hope I could write about this hit musical too. But not now.

Ambidexterity

They say logic and creativity are controlled by the left hemisphere and right hemisphere of the brain, respectively. Really?

A lot of people also believe that a person is either logical or creative depending on which hemisphere of his brain is dominant. I, however, believe that our brain's attributes are distributed throughout this mass inside our head. It just happens that some have developed one area more than the other. Perhaps it's by default that they're more inclined to one thing, depending on genetic and environmental factors, while others are challenged by their 'weaker hemisphere' that they've decided to keep its status quo.

Maybe I am wrong. Maybe my theory is only applicable to people with INTP as their MBTI type because these creatures are naturally curious. Or maybe I'm kind of an isolated case because I am an INTP (with very strong INTJ tendencies) and both parents are naturally left-handed. One of them has become right-handed though.

So how do I fare?

Using left hand:
- Eating (spoon on the left, fork on the right)
- Lifting objects
- Writing, but rarely or only when intentional. Penmanship is not as polished compared to those written by right hand.

I also tend to put my shoulder bag on my left shoulder.

Using right hand:
- Brushing teeth
- Writing
- Other tasks

Recently I realized how I prefer to use my left foot when playing Football. And it's better than my right foot!

I played in a booth where you have to kick the ball into the hole to get a prize. I managed to drill the ball on my last chance with my left foot.

In another occasion, there's a booth where you have to hit the ball twice. I've only hit it once. Again, only able to do so with my left foot.

Hello, Leo!

People say the left hemisphere of the brain is linear with the following attributes:

- English and Math and Physics where the three subjects in high school that I fared better than the rest of the subjects. My highest grade in a particular grading period was actually either in senior Math or Physics. 98.

- I speak three languages - Bisaya/Cebuano, English, Tagalog (Learned these in such order.) - and know a few Japanese and Spanish. I learned Japanese, mostly, by self-study and Spanish by... Well, I am a Filipino so that should be given. I'm currently learning Cyrillic.

- I am pragmatic. Whatever works best and the practical way. No fuss.

Meanwhile, the right hemisphere of the brain is described creative with the following attributes:

- I can draw and paint, if I focus and put effort to do so.

- iNtp/iNtj.

- The curious cat in me does things out of, of course, curiosity. If it seems fun and not fatal or won't cost me my license, sure.

- My emotions flow like a typical INTP and INTJ.

As an ambidextrous, it's like Jane Doe sensing Remi (instincts) coming into surface. Yeah, I just had to make that Blindspot reference.

Random Post Blindspot Thoughts

It feels very much like how Jane came out of that bag at the Time Square. Well, at least after she recovered from the blinding lights. It's like facing a fork wondering which way to go. It's pretty confusing. Which is right, which is not? Which is safe, which one is a trap?

There're a whole lot of skills set available for survival but things don't seem to get right. It's never that sweet spot feeling. Sometimes I wish I could put on INTJ's decisiveness and make that decision then immediately work on it. Although I have INTJ tendencies, it's that trait that I can't or could hardly put on. The doubts, perhaps even fear or anxiety, just keep holding back. But more than the doubt, it just never feels right.

And yes, it brings me back to Jane Doe. Although our situations are not the same, there's a similarity. There's something that I could relate with her. Too much blindspot. Blindspot.

Well, I am making the connection because I missed Blindspot a lot. I can't wait for episode 2 but I'm glad to take the time. The season 2 premiere was intense enough.

I can actually work things through pouring everything whenever possible, but it's the lack of eureka that keeps me from doing so. Until I firmly believe in something, everything else is clouded.

Something's been bugging me since late last month. I tried to "close" it because it's consuming much of my "thinking time" but it's been pretty persistent. I've actually made an attempt to close it a couple of years back but it wasn't successful. I'm hoping I could close things properly, if ever they need to be closed. And it'd be great if I could tell which way to go if I see that fork again.

Tu me manques...

I can't wait for September. I miss Blindspot and The Blacklist. The next/latest seasons will premiere on September 14 and 22, respectively.

Just three weeks to go to finally see Jane Doe, Kurt Weller, Patterson, Dr. Robert Borden, and the rest of the NY gang.I miss 'em all but mostly these ones I named.

Speaking of Patterson and Borden, I think they are cute together. I'd like them to end up together. That'd be sweet. But that would be a conflict, since Dr. Borden is the resident psychiatrist of the unit. Basically, Patterson and the rest of the gang are his patients.

But they're just so cute together. Perhaps they can just be close friends. Very close friends that you'd wonder if there's something romantic or if it's just plain cryptic platonic. The main story is not about them anyway so there shouldn't be a big deal about these two. A hint or two, or more, will be fine. It'd be enough to warm the fandom.

So while waiting for the next couple of weeks, I'm banking on what Patterson said.

Between Blindspot and The Blacklist, I'm not sure which one I love more. But do I really have to choose one over the other? I'd sayd these two top the list of series that are so dear to me. At least recently. I think Prison Break is still capable of putting up a fight. Actually, it doesn't even have to. It's among my all-time favourite TV series.

So, for The Blacklist... I wonder what's in store for everyone especially the Keens, particularly Liz and this so-called Russian identity. Truth be told, I'm not buying what Alexander Kirk said. No.

There's just no enough evidence and not enough to support Kirk's claim. And I think it's easier to buy the thought that Jane is Taylor but believing that is just too much of a history manipulated. So technically, it's something unlikely too.

I just read this transcript of interview with The Blacklist director Michael Watkins. Of course he was talking about the show, and more. He said asomething about James Spyder. Interesting. Very interesting. It just reminded me of an IG post by PJ Pascual leading me to a "Scarlett moment," which I'll write about that later.

Now I wonder if I am on the right blog as I write this. Perhaps I'll make a copy on my other blog. Yes, I should do that.

Emotion Explosion

Contrary to popular belief, I am not without emotions. And I am not talking about anger, which seemed to be the prominent one in the first two decades of my life. Talk about it I shall not indulge. Rather, the emotions I am referring to and claim to have are the same ones that other people have. Only on a different degree and setting.

What prompted me to write this blog entry is someone with the initials of MD. I just took a peek of his recent, perhaps still work in progress, project. I wish I had the chance to take part in it. I wish. I also happened to see one of his old projects, which was totally, at least for me, mind blowing. It also gave me bunch of tachycardia and tachypnea. Crazy project, I dare say, but I wonder why I've never heard about it until today.

Having done so brought a lot of emotions into the table. Ideas came in. Thoughts were brought out. Desires came back to the surface.

Now I am looking back on the things that MD has done. I would love to take part in the same project with him. Perhaps someday, perhaps never.

Kennon: Road to Global Peace and Unity [musical play]

I got to watch Kennon: Road to Global Peace and Unity, a three-act musical play, twice. Hehe.. If only I could, I would've probably watched it thrice. Oh well. I had fun on both times. I had a happy Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning.

As mentioned in my previous blog entry, I only found out about the musical play by accident. Or perhaps by heavens' decree? It's good that I got to watch the play twice because I was able to observe some things. It was interesting.

Before I get started, I'd like to note the main difference on how I watched the same play on different times/days. Day 1: With heart and spirit; Day 2: With heart and brain. Of course I was able to notice things that need improvement on day 1 but I dismissed them as I was so engrossed to the message of the play.

So here I go. I hope I can make this short and quick. Reminder though, I am not a professional in the performing arts. Written below were merely thoughts and observations.

Plot
The story is about how Kennon Road was built. For two years, about 4000 people all around the world worked together to carve the mountains of Benguet. Wow. But more than its history, the play also talked about its future, for it is indeed a heritage of our people (I'm not excluding the rest of the country here) and even of the world.

By the way, to the Japanese people.. doumo arigatou gozaimashita! We may have been conquered by the Imperial Army of Japan, but the story of Kennon Road reminds us that without selfish ambitions we can all work together, in peace and unity.

I would definitely recommend this musical play to all students, not just to the people of Baguio but also to all Filipinos. The story of Kennon Road is not just a story of the people of Baguio or of Benguet but also a story of the Filipinos. Yeah, it's the story of the people of God.

Acting
My favourite actor would be the Japanese grandfather. When he cried, "Revive! Revive!" my eyes were welling with tears. I felt what he felt though his was worse because I haven't seen Baguio when it was still young and yet I've already had a lot of dismay for this supposed beautiful city (the first time I came here).

If I were to choose a favourite singer, I'd choose the obaasan, the Japanese grandmother. When she sang, I felt the emotions, the grief. She reminded me of Yakenogahara (Burnt Field) by Cocco, a Japanese singer. I actually had Memories as LSS.

There's also one actor who, albeit playing no major role, still gave an impressive performance. Of course there were also others who did the same. I appreciate it because I'm quite critical on actors. I expect them to do their best, to give their all. And as I've watched the play twice, I also noticed that there was a subtle but reasonable and better change of facial expression on "Catherine." It was good because I was quite bothered that on day 1 I could hardly find the right facial expressions.

Costume
The yukata or kimono! I only noticed it on day 2 because the two actresses portraying as Japanese stood side by side. One of them wore it wrong because depending on how you "wrap" yourself indicates if you're alive or dead. I didn't know then which one got it wrong but as I checked, wrapping the kimono right over left is only for the dead.

Being an alien in this city got me a little awkward when I saw men in tribal costume marching below the stage. Yes, they passed before me because I was seated on front. But I only felt a little awkward because that's what I usually feel for people who are in awkward situations. It was interesting also, which got me really curious, because they were not afraid to move around with just that loin cloth. I've always wondered where they got such confidence. Then on day 2 I noticed someone's modern undergarment. That explained it all and I was finally relieved.

Music
I love the score. Some reminded me of Mulan's I'll Make a Man Out of You while others reminded me of those typical in a musical play where the notes go... I can't describe it as I'm not a musical person but I think it's like pressing the same low note. I love that in musicals.

I'm not really familiar, though I've already seen a few (on TV/documentaries), with the musical culture of the Igorots and Ibaloys but there are similarities with those of the other indigenous people of the Philippines. I love the flute performances, both solo and as an accompaniment for the guy who sang in native language. I love it because, although I understood nothing, it reminded me of Mindanao. They're quite the same! I actually almost got lost in nostalgia.
